WayWiser Safety Policy
This Safety Policy is intended to guide Users of the WayWiser Service in having safe interactions with other Users. It is intended as a reference only and is in no way a complete or comprehensive guide to personal safety.
WayWiser recommends Users consider the following points when meeting other Users in person:
Have you met the User before?
First-time meetings require additional scrutiny to ensure that the User’s intentions are genuine. Thorough conversation through the WayWiser website or Facebook groups will help Users get to know each other and is strongly encouraged prior to first-time meetings, but is in no way a substitute for face-to-face interaction.
Does the User have any reviews on the WayWiser website?
Users that have no reviews are probably new to the website and should also be given additional scrutiny leading up to and during the first meeting. Users with poor reviews should also be carefully considered or avoided if the reviews make you feel uncomfortable about them.
Where will you be meeting the User?
Meeting new people in public places is ideal, but may not always be feasible. If the Adventure is to take place in a remote location, consider a preliminary “meet and greet” meeting to be sure you are comfortable going out alone (or in limited company) with the User. Will there be cell phone reception at the meeting point? If you need supplies for the trip, suggest meeting at a grocery store or somewhere similar before disembarking.
Will you be reliant upon the User for transport before or after the Adventure?
Consider how you would exit the situation if you were to become uncomfortable during the Adventure. Having personal transportation accessible makes it much easier to get yourself out of an uncomfortable or dangerous situation so consider driving yourself (if possible) to the location if going out with a User for the first time or doing something you are not entirely confident about.
